By using this calculator, you can calculate the average of multiple time measurements spent on different tasks. For example, if you spend 3 hours, 5 minutes, and 54 seconds on activity A and spend 5 hours, 7 minutes, and 23 seconds on activity B, you can find how long it took to complete both activities on average.

How to Calculate Average Time?

Steps to calculate average time include:

1) Count the Number of Times

Simply count the total number of times in your calculations, like how many time measurements you have taken.

2) Convert To Same Unit

If you have different time units (Hours, Minutes, and Seconds), convert them to a single unit i.e., seconds.

3) Calculate Average Time

Divide the total number of seconds by the total number of time measurements

4) Convert Back to Standard Format

Convert the number of seconds to standard time format (Hours:Minutes:Seconds).

If you have many time values (say 4, 7, or 15), then manual calculations can be confusing as you have to deal with a lot of values. It can be prone to human error as well. But using our average time calculator can do it accurately and immediately for you. It allows one to calculate average of 20 time measurements at once. It helps you to manage a large number of times surfed on activities with ease.

Example (Average Time)

Let's calculate the average time of the following three values!

  1. 2 hours 30 minutes
  2. 1 hour 45 minutes, and
  3. 3 hours 10 minutes

Solution:

Time Values Counting:

In this problem, we have 3 time measurements

Convert to Seconds:

2 hours 30 minutes = 2 * 60 * 60 + 30 * 60 = 9000 seconds

1 hour 45 minutes = 1 * 60 * 60 + 45 * 60 = 6900 seconds

3 hours 10 minutes = 3 * 60 * 60 + 10 * 60 = 11400 seconds

Add Up the Times:

Total time = 9000 + 6900 + 11400 = 27300 seconds

Divide By the Number of Times:

Average time = 27300 seconds / 3 = 9100 seconds

Convert Back to Hours:Minutes:

9100 seconds

= 9100/3600

= 2.52

In the above number, the whole number 2 represents the Hours and the decimal part .52 represents the number of Minutes:

Multiplying decimal part with 60 to calculate minutes

Minutes = .52 * 60

Minutes = 31.2

Total Time: 2 hours and 32 minutes approximately.
